Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)
Community Action Connections (CAC) is providing energy assistance to residents of Benton and Franklin Counties who meet the listed requirements set forth by the Washington State Department of Commerce. The LIHEAP program is a federally funded program, its purpose is to assist eligible households with heating costs.
Only ONE registration submission per household is permitted.
Eligibility requirements are listed below:
- be a resident of and live in either Benton or Franklin County, and
- be a U.S. Citizen or a “legal resident” or with at least one household members that is a U.S. Citizens or “legal residents”
- heating source of either electric, oil, natural gas, wood, pellets or propane for your primary place of residence and/or your heat cost is included in your monthly rent
- proof of all household income received in the one month prior to your appointment
- identification for all household members
- verification of address and a 12-month energy usage history
- have an active heating account (no past and/or closed accounts) for heating assistance
- household size and combined average monthly income for all adults 18 and over must meet eligibility at or below 150% of FPL detailed below

State Home Energy Assistance Program (SHEAP)
LIHEAP Citizenship and income criteria are not applicable to SHEAP. SHEAP income criteria is below 80% AMI through the Climate Commitment Act.
